Join a special 2-hour guided tour in English of the historic Mont-Gros site at the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur on Tuesday afternoon, November 26th, 2024. This unique experience includes visiting the Grande Coupole of the Observatory and discovering the telescope, which was in its time the largest in the world. The tour also includes a 1.5 km walk through the stunning outdoor grounds, where you’ll delve into the history of the groundbreaking astronomical research of this iconic observatory. You’ll also be able to enjoy sweeping views over the city of Nice.

🚍 Transport: While the Mont Gros site is accessible via mini-bus line 84 (15 seats max), there is a 500 meter walk from the public entry drop-off point requiring earlier arrival. Recommend transport by taxi/Uber/private car. On-site parking for private cars needs to be arranged before-hand.

  • Learn about the architectural genius of Charles Garnier, who blended ancient Mediterranean influences, and Gustave Eiffel, who designed the almost 100-ton dome.
  • Enhance your knowledge in the newly renovated Universarium, a fun and interactive space that addresses major questions in Astronomy and Geosciences, and discover contemporary research projects involving the scientists at the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur.
